Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews Returns to Work 3 Months After Sustaining Injury
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is returning to work after spending more than three months in recovery following a fall at a Mornington Peninsula holiday rental.
The premier held a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on June 28 to update Victorians on the Metro Tunnel project, one of his government’s key infrastructure projects that have since blown out by nearly $3 billion, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
In a video posted on June 27, Andrews detailed how he fell when he was getting ready for work on March 9 and then taken to hospital where he learned of his injury an acute compression fracture of the T7 vertebra as well as several broken ribs.

Mr Andrews said he couldn t call out to his wife because he couldn t breathe. She comes and finds me a few moments later, it felt like an eternity, he said. It was awful because you were going blue, and we were looking at each other and I was thinking, you are going to die here in Sorrento at this holiday house, Catherine Andrews said in the video.

The Frankston-based facility has bought the renowned da Vinci Xi machine, whose advanced technology has helped to significantly improve patient outcomes according to published reviews.
Its use has led to fewer overall complications, a shorter stay in hospital and less pain than for those people who have open surgery.

Mr Andrews has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit to the general ward at the Alfred Hospital and will not be required to undergo back surgery for now.
