Tippecanoe County s COVID-19 unique positivity rate above 12%

LAFAYETTE, Ind. The seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals in Tippecanoe County has tripled from a month ago, according to data from the Indiana State Department of Health. Less than a month ago, the positivity rate for unique individuals – the percentage of people who test positive, regardless of how many times a single person has been tested – was below 4%. On Thursday, that rate was reported as 12.6%.  On Wednesday, the rate was 11.3%. The overall positivity rate increased slightly, to 4.3%; Wednesday s rate was 4.2%. That rate of positive cases had been as low as 1.8% just over a week ago. While positivity rates have increased, the death toll remained at 211, with one COVID-19 related death added in the past few days.

The death toll remained at 211, reflecting an additional death added in the previous report.  Tippecanoe County s seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals – the percentage of people who test positive, regardless of how many times a single person has been tested – increased to 11.3% Wednesday, after dipping below 10% Monday. The overall positivity rate for the county increased to 4.2%, up from 3.9% Tuesday. That rate of positive cases had been as low as 1.8% just over a week ago. In Indiana, 15 people died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The state reported a seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals of 11.7%; up from 11.4% Tuesday; 11.1% Monday; and 10.8% Sunday.
