It s the first time since Nov. 18 that the county reported no deaths over the previous day, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas when no reports were issued.

The state s Department of Health and Human Services first reported more than 200,000 diagnosed cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, a little over seven weeks after the diagnosis of its 100,000th case on Oct. 30.
One bright spot in the data released Monday: The state s 14-day test positivity rate dropped to 19.7% a number well exceeding the World Health Organization s goal of 5%, but the 14th straight day with a decrease. The state s highest recorded positive test rate was 21.8% on Dec. 8.

Friday COVID-19 update: Record 15 deaths in one day in Washoe County
Washoe County reported 15 deaths related to COVID-19 over the past day on Friday, the county s deadliest day to date during the pandemic, with the overall death toll surpassing 400.
The deaths in the past day were those of 10 men and five women, ages ranging from 50s to 100s.
To date, 404 Washoe County residents have died of the coronavirus, including 126 in December.
The county also announced 512 new cases of the coronavirus, as well as 654 recoveries. Due to the surge in new cases in Washoe County over the past two months, disease inspectors with the Washoe County Health District have been unable to contact all diagnosed COVID-19 patients to determine all recoveries.
