Tributes to family man from Bolton who died at barbecue

THE daughter of a much-loved “family man” who died after falling over at a barbecue has paid tribute to his kind-hearted nature. Derek Blakemore, of Lower Darcy Street, Little Lever, was taken to hospital after falling over at a barbecue at his son’s house on Heathfield, Harwood, on April 17, an inquest was told. An ambulance was called and he was taken to Salford Royal Hospital, where a CT scan revealed that he had sustained a bleed on the brain. He rapidly deteriorated and his condition was deemed unsurvivable, Bolton Coroner s Court heard. After receiving end-of-life care, he died two days later on April 19, aged 86.
