18 properties raided by police in Reading POLICE have stormed 18 properties in Reading this morning (March 3) in a major drugs bust tackling organised crime. A significant amount of cash, drugs, weapons, and other items have been seized and 20 people have been arrested. It comes as part of a major eight-month Thames Valley Police investigation supported by the National Crime Agency (NCA), the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) and the Home Office. Police raided the 18 Reading sites, as well as a further seven properties across Blackburn, Sunderland, Birmingham, and London. The operation focused of organised crime, including the importation of class A drugs and class B drugs, money laundering, modern slavery, and human trafficking.

Jailed in January: 1)
James Cherry, aged 28, of no fixed address in Swindon, was jailed for eight years and seven months after breaking a woman s jaw and robbing several shops. In 2020 Cherry robbed a series of shops in Swindon including a McColls shop, a pop-up shop in Cavendish Square, the Esso service station on Dorcan Way, the Lloyds Pharmacy in Park South and Superdrug in the town centre.
2 men due to appear in court over weapons and drugs charges
Both men have been released on bail pending their next court appearances.

‘It’s Not OK That We Look Like We Do’ – Top Cop Says Force Is Too White

A British police chief has lamented the fact that her leadership team is white, saying it is “not OK that we look like we do”.
“If we look at the Chief Officer group of this constabulary, we are half female and have all sorts of other diverse characteristics – but we are all white,” said Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney.
“I’m really aware of that and so I’m doing what I can to mitigate in the short term and I have a very detailed plan, which also national policing has as well, to try and shift that balance,” she vowed.
