Suspect arrested for the human trafficking of teenage girls
The accused will appear in court again on Thursday, 22 April 2021 for a formal bail application.
The 24-year-old accused, Tshepo Ntsabeng, appeared before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court, where he was facing charges of human trafficking.
Ntsabeng was arrested by the Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Bethlehem on Wednesday, 14 April 2021 for crimes committed during November 2020.
Human trafficking in Sasolburg
The accused was reportedly involved in the disappearance of three teenage girls in Phuthaditjhaba. A preliminary investigation found that the teens were forced into prostitution in Sasolburg.
The charges against Ntsabeng originates from the incident which took place during November 2020 where three teenage girls were reported as missing in Phuthaditjhaba.
Accused Tshepo Ntsabeng(24) appeared before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court where he was facing charges of trafficking in persons. He was arrested yesterday by the Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Bethlehem and Welkom assisted by Crime Intelligence Sasolburg.
The charges against Ntsabeng originates from the incident which took place during November 2020 where three teenage girls were reported to be missing in Phuthaditjhaba. The teenagers were lured from their homes and used for prostitution in Sasolburg. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the three teenagers (17) was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of other two. The 17 years old suspect was arrested last year December 2020 and appeared in court on Monday,07 December 2020. Ntsabeng was at large to avoid arrest since December 2020 until his arrest on Wednesday,14 April 2021.
A 52-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court facing charges of illegal dealing and possession of drugs worth approximately R1.5 million on Monday, 12 April 2021.
A search and seizure warrant was issued by the court and during execution, police confiscated suspected crystal meth and heroin drugs readily packaged with an estimated street value of R1.5 million and over R10 000-00 in cash.
Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Pretoria conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Wingate Park in Pretoria East which resulted in the apprehension of the alleged drug dealer.
The suspect was later charged with illegal dealing and possession of drugs. Investigation continues.
