‘Prophet’ charged with breaking quarantine

A self-professed ‘end time prophet’ who allegedly skipped out on his quarantine just one day after arriving in the state, will be facing a trial to determine his guilt or innocence.
Andrew King, who normally resides in London but is originally from Spring Estate/Biabou, arrived in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) on December 28, travelling from the United Kingdom.
The 53-year-old is accused that he, on December 29, in Villa, contravened an order made by Dr Roger Duncan, Health Officer, pursuant to section 27(a) of the Public Health Act, requiring him to quarantine himself from other persons.

After being caught with marijuana in a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) box, a Bequia mother gave unemployment and a high electricity bill as the reasons she ventured into criminal activity.
Twenty-six-year-old Kendra Lewis of Friendship, Bequia, was caught on January 9, at Port Elizabeth Bequia, in possession of 193g of cannabis.
The police were acting on information when they travelled to the wharf. After arriving on the scene, one of the officers noticed Lewis, and kept her under observation. The officer saw the young woman board the Bequia Express 2, and then disembark with a green and black handbag in her possession. The police apprehended Lewis, and took her back to the police station where they searched her person and her bag. A KFC box containing two Ziploc bags was uncovered. One of the bags contained marijuana, while the other was revealed to have 34 ‘bombs’ of the drug.
Man, awaiting extradition hearing, granted bail

A man awaiting an extradition hearing in relation to charges from the United States, has been granted bail after his lawyers raised certain concerns.

Kern Mayers last made headlines when he was apprehended by the police on December 10, as a man wanted in Pennsylvania, United States (US) and being on that state’s “Ten most wanted” list.
Mayers, a resident of Campden Park, was employed at an automotive parts store in Kingstown.
At the Serious Offences Court (SOC) yesterday, January 11, the prosecution indicated that their concern in the matter is that Mayers was allegedly on bail in another jurisdiction when he skipped that bail and came to this country.

Kingstown – The Vincentian man who is on the most wanted list in the American state of Pennsylvania was granted bail when he appeared in court here on Monday.
Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne, sitting at the Serious Offences Court, granted Kern Z. Mayers bail in the sum of EC$40 000 (US$14 800) with one surety.
She further ordered him to surrender his travel documents and to report to the Questelles Police Station on Mondays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. until the outcome of his extradition hearing, set for April 4, 2021.
Browne also ordered that stop notices be placed at ports of entry and exit, preventing Mayers from leaving the jurisdiction.

Two Layou men have been discharged for multiple armed robberies because of case files not being fully prepared six months after the charges were laid.
Oranson Garraway, one of the discharged men is currently serving a four year, four month term in prison after being sentenced at the Serious Offences Court(SOC) for unlawful assault, and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
The then-21-year-old gained his first criminal conviction in June 2020. He used Facebook, Vincy: Buy, Sell and Trade, to lure Ronique Toussaint of Mesopotamia to Layou, to purchase a Yamaha dirt motorcycle from a ‘woman’.
