Wyoming Department of Health release:
The Wyoming Department of Health has been selected to receive a grant to help prepare the state for the National Suicide Prevention Lifelineâs coming national 988 dialing code.

In July 2022, 988 will become the national three-digit dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, replacing the current phone number of1-800-273-TALK(8255).
âWe always tell people to call911if they are someone they know is in immediate danger of harming themselves,â said Lindsay Martin, Injury and Violence Prevention Program manager with WDH said.
âHaving a ready resource for people in crisis is vital,â Martin said. âWe know having someone to talk to about thoughts, feelings and options for support can help save lives and thatâs where the lifeline fits in.â

One weekday afternoon in July, she was sitting on her couch in her living room. She’d been furloughed from her job at the front desk of a dental office in early spring, but that hot summer day her boss called to let her know she’d need to return to the office soon. On the phone, she thought,
