ORLANDO, Fla. - Survivors and victims relatives and friends are marking the fifth anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting.
In the early morning hours of June 12, 2016, the Orlando community suffered a horrible tragedy, as gunman Omar Mateen opened fire inside the gay nightclub, killing 49 people and wounding another 53.
President Biden said Saturday he will sign legislation creating a national memorial at the site of a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where 49 people were killed five years ago.
In a statement Saturday, the president said he has "stayed in touch with families of the victims and with the survivors who have turned their pain into purpose" and described the club as "hallowed ground."
