USDA releases ARPA funding to bolster federal nutrition programs Blog USDA releases ARPA funding to bolster federal nutrition programs During the week of April 26, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the release of two tranches of funding authorized under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA): $1.135 billion to bolster state administration of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and a $490 million increase to the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). These supplemental funds not only aim to provide resources to vulnerable individuals and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but to also aid state and local governments as they administer vital services to our nation’s most vulnerable populations.
