The turnout for the ballot was 34 per cent of traders, with 162 votes cast. The BID required the backing of a majority of the levy-payers taking part in the vote to achieve this, which it did. The overall support percentage of 76 per cent means that Poole BID will now operate through to June 30 2026. Poole BID’s second term will focus on delivering the commitments made in the 21/26 Business Plan, published in advance of the ballot. Three key elements Enhance, Promote and Support were identified in two independent surveys undertaken for the Poole BID and will form the basis of the next five years operations.

Slough Borough Council
A NEW Slough Mayor, deputy, and cabinet members have been announced in the leader’s reshuffle. Councillor Mohammed Nazir (Lab: Baylis and Stoke), who was the lead member for housing and community safety, will become Mayor for the 2021/22 municipal year.
Cllr Mohammed Nazir Cllr Dilbagh Parmar (Lab: Cippenham Meadows) will become his deputy. As Cllr Nazir has been recommended to become Mayor, the leader of the council, councillor James Swindlehurst, has recommended Cllr Christine Hulme (Lab: Central) to be promoted to a cabinet role of children’s services, lifelong learning and skills. The children’s services portfolio was once held by councillor Martin Carter (Britwell and Northborough) but is now in charge of customer services and corporate support.

Arooj Shah will be confirmed as the Council Leader on 19 May
Cllr Arooj Shah has been elected as the new leader of Oldham’s Labour Group and is set to be confirmed as council leader.
Labour currently hold 40 oof 60 seats on the council, which means the Labour group leader will also become the leader of the council. Cllr Shah will be confirmed as leader at the annual meeting of the council on 19th May.
The appointment follows former leader Sean Fielding s defeat in the local council elections on Thursday, in which he lost his Failsworth West ward to Mark Wilkinson of the Failsworth Independent Party.
