The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Landry Collett along with Deputy Hobie Daugherty and Deputy James Fox pulled 32-year-old Joshua Ray Walters over on Highway 770 after noticing his vehicle had an expired plate. During the roadside investigation deputies found Walter’s license was suspended. They also found meth, small baggies and scales and license plates that were not assigned to the vehicle. As Walters was arrested he fled on foot about 150 yards, but was quickly tracked down and taken into custody. Walters was charged with trafficking, fleeing and evading, resisting arrest, among others. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Hobie Daugherty along with Deputy Landry Collett and Deputy Tommy Houston were dispatched to a home off Highway 1376 about 5 miles north of London after reports of shots fired. Deputies found 30-year-old Erik Christman at the rear of the residence. Christman had apparently fired a gun toward a road and homes. He was also determined to be under the influence. Christman was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and alcohol intoxication in a public place. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
The deceased has been identified as Jacob S. Vann, 32, of Keavy.
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 312 Market, formerly known as The Bait Bucket, near the intersection of Ky. 312 and Level Green Road.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that approximately 7 a.m., a male subject, later identified as Vann, entered the store with the intent to rob it.
According to deputies, Van inferred that he had a weapon.
Van reportedly assaulted a male employee.
“Another male employee fired shots at the suspect (Vann) who was assaulting the other employee, hitting the suspect at least once causing fatal injury to the suspect.,” Acciardo stated adding that an unidentified female employee was struck by a stray bullet.

KEAVY â An employee was shot and a Keavy man was killed during an attempted robbery at the 312 Market, formerly the Bait Bucket, on Highway 312 Saturday morning.
The man killed was Jacob S. Vann, age 32, and was the suspect in the robbery. Vann was shot by an employee after entering the store around 6:59 a.m. Saturday stating he wanted the store s money and inferring he had a weapon, according to the Laurel County Sheriff s Office.
Vann reportedly assaulted a male employee during the robbery attempt. Another male employee fired shots at Vann, who was assaulting the other employee, and hit Vann at least once causing a fatal injury.

The Laurel County Sheriff s Office says Deputy Hobie Daugherty along with Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy Justin Taylor, and Shift Sgt. John Inman arrested two men during a traffic stop. Deputies stopped 21-year-old Alexander Amey and 43-year-old Deandre Lamonta Gaither, both from Atlanta, Georgia, after observing them weaving on I-75 north of London. During the roadside investigation both were determined to be under the influence. Gaither was charged with public intoxication and trafficking in marijuana. Amey was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, trafficking in marijuana, and failure of nonowner operator to maintain required insurance. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
