Two National Guard members with ties to far right groups pulled from mission
A defense official confirms that vetting has found two Army National Guard members who have ties to far right groups have been removed from the inauguration security mission. They are currently under investigation.
Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, told NBC News Tuesday morning, “We don’t allow extremism of any type in our organization.”
Senate Democrats will control the majority on Wednesday for the first time since 2014 and plan to consider a new round of stimulus checks quickly, a slew of Biden administration nominees, and a list of agenda items including a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.
Instead of parades and crowds of people, those in attendance will be limited to staff and VIPs, including Jennifer Lopez who will perform and Lady Gaga who will sing the national anthem.
Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will take their oaths of office outside the Capitol Building after the ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.
Biden will deliver a speech before the traditional “Pass in Review” inspection of troops from all service branches.
Biden, first lady Jill Biden, Harris and second gentlemen Douglas Emhof, will later make their way to the Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
