WASHINGTON (CNS) Saying the nation “reverently pauses in supplication to remember and to pray for the many thousands of people who have died from the coronavirus during this past year,” Washington Cardinal Wilton D. Gregory offered the invocation at a pre-inauguration memorial service Jan. 19 to honor and remember the more than 400,000 Americans who have succumbed to COVID-19.

The University of Delaware Marching Band (UDMB) will be performing at the presidential escort of fellow Blue Hen, Joe Biden, following his swearing in as the 46th President of the United States at Wednesdayâs inauguration ceremony.
âIt is a tremendous honor for the University of Delaware Marching Band Drumline Battery to be one of only two civilian groups participating in the inaugural events in person on Wednesday,â University President Dennis Assanis said. âWe are excited to share our UD pride with the world, and we will all be cheering on our students as they help celebrate this amazing milestone for a fellow Blue Hen.â

President-elect Joe Biden will deliver an appeal to national unity when he is sworn in Wednesday and plans immediate moves to combat the coronavirus pandemic and undo some of President Donald Trump’s most controversial policies, his incoming chief of staff said Sunday.
Biden and Kamala Harris are expected to be sworn in slightly after noon East Coast time. The star-studded event will include performances from Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks. Due to the pandemic, Biden will be eschewing the usual post-inauguration gala in favor of a televised Celebrating America event.
