Stunning Biden Inauguration Photos Show Thousands of Flags Planted Across National Mall

Hundreds of thousands of flags have been planted on the National Mall ahead of Joe Biden s inauguration ceremony this week.
Stunning photos reveal the field of flags lining the grass strip leading to the Capitol building in preparation for the scaled-back ceremonies set to take place in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
The approximately 191,500 U.S. flags represent those who are unable to watch the inauguration in person.
The flags also serve as a reminder of the almost 400,000 American lives lost due to complications related to COVID-19.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer will attend Wednesday’s inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Governor Whitmer was recently appointed co-chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee and was nominated to serve as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
“The country is ready for a leader who listens to medical experts to lead our country’s COVID-19 response and works on behalf of hardworking Americans,” Governor Whitmer in a statement. “I am honored to attend the inauguration of President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and ready to begin working closely with each of them to fight this virus, save lives, and put the country back on track.”

The year was 1986. Howard University was bursting with the voracious energy of student minds protesting apartheid in South Africa, rallying for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, and launching themselves into service projects and campus life.
Not least among them were the sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Their chapter that year would boast 38 Black young women, eager to form a sisterhood since the chapter had not had a line or new membership intake the year prior. They were the 38 Jewels of Iridescent Splendor. Thirty-eight line sisters.
