Veteran Republican Karl Rove warned that if President Trump chooses his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to defend him in the Senate impeachment trial, it would backfire on him.
Rove, who served as deputy chief of staff under President George W. Bush, said he believes Giuliani s claims on voter fraud in the aftermath of the 2020 election hurt his credibility, and his role in an impeachment defense would drive more GOP senators to convict Trump. Valley News columnist Jim Kenyon, is the story of a Palestinian immigrant seeking the American Dream (“A place to call home,” Dec. 26, and “New land, new purpose,” Dec. 27). Today’s dissatisfied individuals would have you believe that dream no longer exists, but Mahdawi’s experience appears to reinforce the words inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
Mahdawi has been met by love and welcoming here in the Upper Valley, and it seems he doesn’t subscribe to “cancel culture,” or to the notion that the U.S. is a systemically racist society. One has to wonder why so many do. If it were true, why would we have had a President Barack Obama, or have a Vice President-elect Kamala Harris? Or other wonderful success stories, such as
