Courts discuss security after warning of potential protest threats

Courts across the country are discussing security after a news report said pro-Trump groups were considering storming courthouses.
The Texas Lawyer spoke with court officials in several states and also cited a statement by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
“Very active discussions are taking place at the national and local levels to make sure everyone is prepared,” the statement said.
Concern grew after ABC News reported that one group is planning to storm government offices in every state on Inauguration Day. The group also planned to storm state, local and federal courthouses, as well as administrative buildings, if President Donald Trump was removed from office before the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

WASHINGTON – The 2021 Presidential Inauguration will bring five days of special programming leading up to the swearing-in of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
The Presidential Inauguration Committee (PIC) announced Wednesday the official inaugural ceremonies, which will be smaller this year due to the pandemic, will to take place on Jan. 20 with Biden slated to take the oath of office at 11 a.m. Central, followed by Biden’s inaugural address.
Key allies on Capitol Hill have bucked him, advisers are avoiding him, and his lawyers have largely refused to defend him as he faces a second impeachment trial.
Biden ran for president on a campaign of raising taxes on the wealthy, corporations and estates, expanding tax credits for modest earners and exempting individual taxpayers making less than $400,000 from tax increases. Biden wants to use the extra money to pay for a far-reaching domestic agenda, with new spending on health care, infrastructure, low-income schools and combating climate change initiatives.
