It is hypocritical not to also condemn 2019 protests that turned violent

However, the writer seems to put the blame on all Republicans and categorize all Republicans with the group of thugs that assaulted the Capital.This group represented a small percentage of the tens of thousands that were peacefully protesting in Washington on Jan. 6. This unlawful group of rioters has been called out and criticized by leaders of both the Democratic and Republican party. While I agree that this group should be condemned, what concerns me is why this same group of leaders (specifically the Democrats) were silent earlier last year when peaceful protests in other parts of the country were turned violent by a small percentage of rioters. Organized rioters that were there solely to cause trouble.
