Just a couple of days before US President-elect Joe Biden s official inauguration, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris photoshoot has triggered the whitewashing controversy.

US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris recently featured on America s noted magazine s cover page. In the two images that were released online, Kamala Harris is standing against a shiny pink and gold backdrop.
At first glance, the released pictures look pretty ordinary. However, several social media users labelled the magazine s cover as a washed out mess. Many even suggested that the choice of attire and poorly lit pictures were disrespectful to the Vice President-elect.

Photographed by Tyler Mitchell, the cover shows Ms Harris wearing a black trouser suit with Converse trainers while she stands in front of a silk pink curtain against a green background.
In the image, Ms Harris is standing with her legs slightly apart while holding her hands held together in front of her stomach.
A second digital cover has also been released, featuring Ms Harris in a powder-blue suit by Michael Kors with her arms crossed.
The cover look was inspired by those of Harris’ Howard university sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.

At that time, she launched a potent attack on Joe Biden but he mended fences and put the 56-year-old on his ticket.
Together, the two won the election and now, Harris seems to be turning heads wherever she goes. The Democratic Party member was seemingly featured on the February cover of Vogue magazine and a leaked shabby-looking photo sparked much outrage online.
