The two wins give Democrats 50 seats in the 100-person chamber, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris able to cast tiebreaking votes.
Alongside President-elect Joe Biden and a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives, the victories mean that Democrats will control both the White House and Congress for the first time since the party was crushed in the 2010 midterms during President Barack Obama s first term.

ATLANTA With all eyes on Georgia ahead of Tuesday s US Senate runoffs, the scramble is on for candidates and their respective political parties.
On Sunday, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was in Savannah, rallying support for Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.
On Monday, the final day before the runoff election, dueling rallies across the state include President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and President-elect Joe Biden.
Pence was in Milner, Georgia at Rock Springs Church at Noon. And Trump, will be in Dalton later in the evening, both pushing voters to re-elect Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

Biden is correct. It is irresponsible if his team isn’t getting all the information that it needs “in key national security areas.” That said, shouldn’t the same standard apply to the incoming administration?
I raise that point because, also this past week, Biden made some verbal gaffes that his supporters seemed to ignore. But the health and well-being of any president also is a key to national security. No one from the left had any trouble applying that metric or the specter of invoking the 25th Amendment while going after President Trump

If Perdue and Loeffler win their races, Republicans would hold a 52 seat Senate majority that would allow them to block some of President-elect Joe Biden s agenda.
The Democratic caucus would have 50 seats if Ossoff and Warnock win. And a tie-breaking vote from Vice President-elect Harris would give Democrats control of the Senate after six years of a GOP majority.
Democrats currently control the House of Representatives and will continue to control the chamber into 2021. Republicans have a slim majority in the Senate.
