Joe Biden Names Indian Americans as Speechwriter and Dy Director of Office of Presidential Personnel

US President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday named his long-time associate Indian-American Vinay Reddy as his speechwriter and another community member Gautam Raghavan, who previously served in the White House, as Deputy Director of the Office of Presidential Personnel. The appointment of Reddy and Raghavan comes along with announcement of four other senior White House staff appointments by Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. They are Anne Filipic as Director of Management and Administration, Ryan Montoya as Director of Scheduling and Advance, Bruce Reed, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Elizabeth Wilkins as Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff.

CUMBERLAND â A Garrett County man made history last week when he was selected to participate in Marylandâs Electoral College vote.
Patrick Hunt of Friendsville was chosen as an elector by the Maryland Democratic Party, placing him in the role of certifying the 2020 U.S. presidential election for Joe Biden. Maryland has 10 electoral votes. The central committee selected Hunt to represent Marylandâs 6th Congressional District in the process.
That’s a doozy: the bill totaled 5,593 pages (!)
THE SHORT VERSION OF WHAT’S IN THE BILL:
The gist of the coronavirus relief aid: “The coronavirus relief portion of the bill doesn’t include the biggest priorities for Republicans and Democrats liability protections and more money for state and local governments, respectively. But it does include $284 billion for another round of small business aid … a $300-per-week federal unemployment boost for 11 weeks, a round of $600 stimulus checks for those making up to $75,000, more money for schools and hospitals, and an extension of an eviction moratorium.”
The gist of the government funding: “The government funding portion includes $1.375 billion for 56 miles for Trump’s border wall, $5 million to create a database to track police misconduct, $153 million for programs to improve community relations with police, and a 3 percent pay raise for the military and a 1 percent pay raise for the civilian federal workf
