Sen. Mark Kelly on Friday announced key hires to his official team, aides who have worked with his wife, former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and other well-known Arizona hands.
As his offices in Arizona and Washington, D.C., begin to take shape, Kelly, D-Ariz., also released the first of his weekly schedules on his Senate website Friday, marking his early efforts to fulfill his campaign pledge of informing Arizonans who he is meeting with and how he is spending his time.
Jennifer Cox, who managed Kelly’s campaign and previously worked as Giffords deputy chief of staff, will serve as Kelly’s chief of staff. Luis Heredia, executive director of the Arizona Education Association who previously served as Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego’s district director, will serve as Kelly’s state director.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) announced Friday she’s reintroducing a bill to prohibit lawmakers from trading stocks as Democrats look to make the issue a key aspect of Georgia’s two Senate runoffs.
The reintroduction of the bill by Warren and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) coincides with scrutiny Georgia Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R) and David Perdue (R) are facing over their own stock trading during the pandemic.
Democrats have accused the two senators, who are locked in competitive runoffs to keep their seats, of using private information gleaned from congressional briefings to buy and sell stocks during the pandemic.
Loeffler and Perdue have both denied any wrongdoing, and federal officials have not found sufficient evidence to bring any charges, but Democrats are hoping to use the issue to flip both Senate seats and hand them a majority in the upper chamber come January.
“Two million Pfizer this week, 5.9 million Moderna - they’re already on trucks rolling,” he said.

The announcement was made by the Biden-Harris transition team Dec. 18.
According to a post on the team s website, Patel previously served as Regional Communications Director on the Biden-Harris Campaign.
During Biden s primary campaign, Patel served as the Nevada and Western Primary-States Communications Director.
He had also worked as Communications Director to Indian American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Western Regional Press Secretary at the Democratic National Committee, and Communications Director to Congressman Mike Honda.
Born in India and raised in California, Patel is a graduate of the University of California-Riverside and the University of Florida.
In response to the appointment, Patel tweeted late Friday night: I took the leap with Joe Biden when he announced because I believed in his vision for what this country could be.
