Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has defended his decision to support the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2020 he initially opposed.
Ngunjiri, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto, was among the 235 MPs who voted in support of the Bill on Thursday night, May 6.
Ruto and his allies have been critical of the BBI Bill which they claim is meant to create positions for some people and in the long run burden the taxpayer.
Ngunjiri s move to support the Bill came as a shock to many, including his supporters, and could be viewed as a betrayal of DP Ruto and his Tanga tanga team.

Mt. Kenya region leaders allied to Tangatanga faction are at Sarova Mara in Narok County today to hold a consultative meeting with Deputy President William Ruto.
The main agenda is to negotiate for the regions key positions ahead of the 2022 elections, especially to secure the Deputy President position for one of them, as well as one of the Deputy Prime Minister position.
Sources have it that this is their irreducible minimum; two positions in the expanded executive or they walk out of Tangatanga.
The lyrics of this track were meant to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.
“I sang that song without the President’s knowledge. But he liked it very much and later called me to pay me for it. When (Chief Justice David) Maraga nullified the initial song, I did the
Wembe ni ule ule remix,” he told Jalang’o TV.
Githae adds he’s been bashed for signing that song but is quick to add that he has no regrets.
“People look for me whenever they think there is a problem with the Jubilee government,” he adds.

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe has denied any involvement in the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency scandal.
Appearing before the National Assembly s Public Investment Committee, Murathe said it was unfair for him to be tagged a covid billionaire yet he had nothing to do with what happened at Kemsa.
An agitated Murathe told committee members said all he did was to facilitate a friend to do business acting as their bank guarantor.
