President Uhuru Kenyatta’s startling declaration that he will not hand over power to thieves has infuriated allies of Deputy President William Ruto.
A fiery Uhuru said he will make sure that politicians with questionable character do not succeed him when his term ends in 2022.
Although the President did not mention names, allies of Dr Ruto told him off saying the voters will decide who will be the next President.
“While others tell you Uhuru wants to extend his term, I know next year am going home (retire) and I have no problem with that; but my agenda is to ensure that that those who will continue, will not be those who punish and steal from Kenyans,” said Uhuru while addressing the public after inspecting Nairobi National Cargo Deconsolidation Centre.

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata was on Tuesday removed as Senate Majority Whip by Jubilee Party and replaced by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
According to Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, the decision was arrived at following a number of issues, key among them being breach of confidentiality.
“His biggest failure as far as leadership is concerned was discussing private matters with other parties. You don’t kiss and tell.
“It is that breach of confidentiality that has made his position untenable,” Tuju said.
Having taken over from Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as the Majority Whip in May 2020, Kang’ata enjoyed a cordial relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta and was among those who backed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Tuju Speaks On Alleged Plot To Impeach DP Ruto
The ruling Jubilee Party has refuted claims that there are plans to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.
Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju said that at no time had the party held discussions to plan Ruto’s ouster. He was responding to reports that Lugari MP Ayub Savula planned to table an impeachment motion against the DP as soon as parliament resumes sittings on Tuesday.
Last week, Savula claimed that the impeachment motion has the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The ANC lawmaker said the motion is in the signature collection stage, with 126 Jubilee MPs appending signatures in support and another 107 from the NASA coalition being sought to append their signatures before parliament fully resumes session.
