Ambulance driver and Hospital house-keeping staff first to receive the shot in Mysuru city
Mysore/Mysuru: U. Sandesh, an ambulance driver and Jayalakshmi, a hospital staff, became the first recipients of
Covishield vaccine in Mysuru city at the Trauma Care Centre on KRS Road and JSS Hospital respectively on the first day of vaccination drive launched country-wide this morning.
While Sandesh works as an ambulance driver at K.R. Hospital, Jayalakshmi works at JSS Hospital. Trauma Centre in PKTB premises and JSS Hospitals were only two session sites identified by the Government of India in city for administering vaccine in the first round. In district, vaccination has started in six Taluk Hospitals and one Health and Wellness Centre.

Manipal, 2nd January 2021: Department of Surgical Oncology at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal has been performing complex cancer surgeries, which are performed only in few reputed cancer centers in India.
Tracheal (windpipe) cancer surgery is one of the most complex procedures to perform, where the tumor is removed along with the part of the windpipe and the remaining windpipe is connected to the lower part or branches (main bronchus). Cancer in the windpipe causes blockage and difficulty in breathing. The surgery usually lifesaving and cures for cancer. The department of Surgical Oncology has performed such major tracheobronchial (windpipe) surgery on 4 cancer patients including a 70-year-old patient, who is on regular follow-up for 9 months said Dr. Naveena Kumar AN, who performed the surgery.
J&K Health & Medical Edu Wing frames committee to conduct Prescription Audit in hospitals
Jammu, Dec 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has framed a committee comprising doctors (Medical Superintendents) and Nodal Officers (doctors) to conduct Prescription Audit in Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar and its Associated Hospitals.
Official sources here told UNI that the Health and Medical Education Department in its order issued by the Deputy Director (Planning), the Principal GMC Jammu and Srinagar, have been asked to conduct the prescription audit in all public health facilities as per the ToRs.

Pumwani Maternity Hospital receives medical equipment from AGF

African Guarantee Fund (AGF) has today donated essential medical equipment worth Ksh. 2.2 million to Pumwani Maternity Hospital. Pumwani is a referral maternity hospital located on the east of Nairobi City.
The donation by AGF is in a bid to strengthen the hospital’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
