The Turf Cutters and Contractors Association says the legal decision would affect 4,000 individuals
It s hoped that a solution can be found to allow turf cutting on Bord na Mona owned lands previously carried out by contractors continue for a transition period of up to five years.
Following a High Court ruling in 2019, it is illegal for approximately 30 industrial peat contractors to extract peat under licence as before and in March the company stated that this would be implemented this season. While it says that over 80% of people cutting turf on their bogs have turbary rights, which are not affected, the Turf Cutters and Contractors Association says it would affect 4,000 individuals, and others who have done their own deals with agents on the ground.

JUST a quarter of TDs and Senators would be unwilling to lose the tricolour and national anthem as part of efforts to achieve a united Ireland, an Irish Sun survey has shown.
With more than 35 per cent open to changing the national symbols, one TD pitched a tune like Danny Boy as a possible replacement for Amhran na bhFiann.

A Roscommon TD has called on the Government to fully re-open Irish building sites and to end restrictions on people having to view houses via video links.
Commenting on the Governments Land Development Agency Bill (LDA), Independent Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice says “Let’s get building fully restarted on March 5
th. We need houses, and we need infrastructure and construction has been compliant with all the coronavirus rules.
Deputy Fitzmaurice says we need to take the rebuilding of Ireland by the scruff of the neck and to end the scenario where people have to view new homes by video-link.
