DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 15th Feb, 2021) Dubaiâs Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the experiment of powering five traditional abras by biodiesel 5, which is officially approved in the UAE, proved successful.
The initiative, which was announced earlier with ENOC, yielded highly positive results.
Mohammed Abu Bakr Al Hashmi, Director of Marine Transport, Public Transport Agency, RTA, expressed his delight at the success of this important experiment. We are undertaking this initiative out of RTAâs commitment to protecting the environment and public health. The use of biodiesel reduces the carbon footprint as well as the emission of harmful gasses.
(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM)) DUBAI, 18th February, 2021 (WAM) Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), today witnessed the start of the Dubai International Baja from DEWA s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
Dubai International Baja is the first Fédération Internationale de l Automobile (FIA) World Cup cross-country event to be run on solar power. This is part of the partnership between DEWA and the Emirates Motorsports Organisation (EMSO). Al Tayer received the rally s agenda from Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of EMSO and FIA Vice President.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced a new global milestone placing the UAE as the first country in the world to produce aluminum using the power of the sun. The milestone supports the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the most sustainable city in the world and to take the lead in the development and application of scientific and technological advances in the energy sector.
DEWA will supply EGA’s smelter with 560,000 megawatt hours of solar power yearly from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park, sufficient to make 40,000 tons of aluminum in the first year with the potential for significant expansion. EGA will supply solar aluminum to global customers under the new product name CelestiAL.
