A French national and a UAE resident, who was earlier sentenced to a month s jail term for causing a cyclist s death when the victim had jumped a red light, has had his imprisonment revoked and is ordered to pay a fine by the Dubai Court of Appeals.
The convict, 50, denied wrongful death and damaging property charges at the Dubai Traffic Court.
He was convicted in April and sentenced to a month s jail term and also ordered to pay a Dh10,000 fine.

Dubai courts recorded a 29 per cent decline in the number of cases involving road traffic fatalities last year, a senior official said.
Figures from Dubai Traffic Prosecution show the number of traffic death cases dropped from 82 in 2019 to 58 last year.
“Dubai traffic prosecution dealt with 7,287 different traffic cases last year, including 58 that involved road deaths, compared with 12,385 the year before, with 82 of them involving traffic deaths,” said Salah Al Falasi, the head of Dubai Traffic Prosecution.

A Dubai court on Thursday reduced the seven-year sentence of an Omani bus driver who crashed the vehicle into a low-clearance sign after entering a restricted lane, killing 17 people, including 12 Indians, in 2019.
Dubai: The Dubai Court of Appeal has reduced the sentence of the Omani bus driver who was charged with causing the wrongful death of 17 passengers and injuring 13 others in June 2019.
The verdict in the case of the 55-year-old Omani driver was reduced to one year in jail and payment of Dh3.4 million in blood money to the families of the victims.
The driver had received a seven-year sentence from the Dubai Traffic Court in July 2019. The court ordered to deport the driver in addition to paying a Dh50,000 fine. His licence was suspended for one year.
The Dubai Court of Appeal reduced the sentence to one year in jail and withdrew the deportation order.
