New Dewa substation boosts DIP power generation capacity
DUBAI, January 11, 2021 Dubai Investments Park (DIP) said it has increased the power generation capacity across the comnnunity by 16.66%, facilitating a total power load of 1050 megavolt-amperes (MVA), with the 7th energised Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) substation. DIP, a wholly-owned unit of Dubai Investments, is the unique integrated commercial, industrial and residential community in the Middle East. As part of the ongoing strategic initiatives with Dewa, strengthening the grid and ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply, the 132/11 KV (Kilovolt) gas insulated switchgear [GIS] substation, located in DIP 1, is engineered to meet the needs of the industrial, commercial and residential sectors across DIP.

Azelio wins first commercial order for Dubai MBR solar complex
DUBAI, December 9, 2020 Azelio, a Swedish company specialising in thermal energy storage with dispatchable power, has secured its first commercial order for its long-duration energy storage from Dubai-based ALEC Energy, thereby achieving a major milestone for the company. The storage unit will be part of a system in the fourth phase of one of the world’s largest solar parks, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) Solar Complex in Dubai, said the company in a statement. The MBR Solar Complex is spread over a total area of 77 sq km in Dubai. Noor Energy 1, a company owned by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa), Acwa Power and Silk Road Fund, is currently developing 950 MW of solar energy technology (phase IV) in the solar park.
Acciona marks construction milestone at Dubai SWRO plant
DUBAI, December 23, 2020 Leading Spanish infrastructure major Acciona said it has achieved a key milestone in the construction of the Jebel Ali desalination plant located in Dubai with the production of the first cubic meter of potable water. The plant, equipped with energy-efficient seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology, is a critical project in the modernisation of the water sector being undertaken by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa). Its capacity makes it one of the largest desalination plants in the UAE, said Acciona, the EPC contractor for Jebel Ali SWRO. Once the plant gets completed by 2021, it will produce 182,000 cu m of potable water per day, serving a population of 700,000 inhabitants.
