International speakers set to participate at IDEX Abu Dhabi, UAE, February 3, 2021 Over 26 global industry leaders, specialists, and experts will attend the International Defence Conference 2021, which will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on February 20.   The event, held as hybrid event for the first time in its history, will be held both at the ADNOC Business Center, as well as virtually through global platforms. Participants will discuss the Prosperity and Development of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology and the Protection in the Era of the 4IR.    The Conference is organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and the Tawazun Economic Council (Tawazun), in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the General Command of the Armed Forces of the UAE. Dubai Police arrest 86 suspects of phone scams, shut down 8000 phone numbers

24 Dec 2020 Somaiya Saad, Staff Reporter Colonel Saeed Al Hajri, Director of Dubai Police’s Cybercrime Department has warned the public of the latest phone scams carried out to embezzle and seize money out of people. It was pointed out that such criminals carry out their scam by contacting their target victims and pretending to be bank employees. The scammers convince victims that their credit cards will be blocked if personal information were not renewed, in order to illegally obtain various amounts of cash. Another scam which they use is by impersonating employees of some random company, making their victim believe they have won money in a raffle draw.

Dubai Police block 8,000 phone numbers used by fraudsters, issue bank scam warning

Dubai: Around 8,000 phone numbers used by scammers have been blocked this year, Dubai Police revealed on Wednesday. Launching a campaign to raise awareness among the public about fake calls and tricks people use to extort money, Colonel Saeed Al Hajiri, Director of Cyber-Crimes Department in Dubai Police, said that despite law enforcement teams cracking down on scammers, such scams can be effectively dealt with only when people are aware and do not fall prey to them. “Dubai Police arrested 86 suspects in 400 fraud complaints this year. We need more people to be aware of the scam and not to give their bank details to anonymous callers who pose as bank employees or government officials,” Col Al Hajiri said at a virtual workshop organised by Dubai Police.

Dubai approves 2021 strategic agenda, launches new organ transplant programme

WAM The Executive Council of Dubai has approved the Strategic Affairs Council’s 2021 agenda and a major organ transplant programme to consolidate the emirate’s leadership in the field. The medical initiative was announced at a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The new scheme will contribute to the efforts to transform the emirate into a global healthcare tourism hub and a centre for medical research. in a post on social media, the Crown Prince stated that the move will  raise the bar of healthcare excellence. The healthcare sector is at the heart of our development drive & a key pillar of creating a true global healthcare tourism destination.

Sheikh Hamdan approves 2021 agenda of Executive Council of Dubai

Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, on Wednesday approved the 2021 agenda of the Executive Council of Dubai and the Strategic Affairs Council. The agenda contributes to realising the leadership’s vision by promoting excellence in all sectors and introducing innovative initiatives to enhance government services and further raise Dubai’s competitiveness. The Council also approved an organ transplant programme to consolidate Dubai’s leadership in this field. The new programme will contribute to the efforts to transform Dubai into a global healthcare tourism destination and a centre for medical research. The Dubai Health Authority explained that the comprehensive programme will bring relief to patients and reduce the burden on the health sector.
