Rome Police Looking For Suspects Who Scammed A Grandma Out Of $9,000 Cash

By Dave Smith May 6, 2021 Rome, N.Y. - A Rome Grandma was ripped off to the tune of 9,000 dollars cash. The victim received a call from someone who claimed to be her granddaughter and said she was in trouble and needed $9,000 to avoid jail. A man got on the phone telling the woman a court courier would be by to get the cash. The victim gave her address and the courier came and took the money and left in a black car. Police say the car used by the “courier” was a newer model black Honda Accord with tinted windows and dark-colored rims. They said both the front and rear license plates were completely covered.

PHILADELPHIA - Six people were hospitalized Sunday morning and a 24-year-old man was killed after overnight violence across Philadelphia continued. In a first shooting, a 19-year-old Black man was shot once in the head. The incident happened on the 1000 block of West Ruscomb Street, just before 10 p.m. He was transported by private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. The scene was held, no arrest was made and no weapon recovered. The investigation is active and ongoing with Northeast Detectives Division.

Police investigating arson incidents at homes in Overbrook, Frankford Published  article PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Police are investigating an arson incident that took place in the Overbrook section of the city.  Police and fire personnel responded to the 6500 block of Lebanon Avenue for a residential fire at approximately 3:58 a.m. Tuesday.  A male suspect was caught on camera pouring liquid on the front porch and starting the fire. The Fire Marshall declared it an arson.  There were no injuries and a scene was held. No arrests have been made.  The investigation is active and ongoing with Southwest Detectives Division.   Earlier the same morning at approximately 2:22 a.m., police and Fire personnel responded to the 2400 block of Duncan Street for residential fire.  Two unknown objects were thrown inside the house while 2 females were inside.

The incident happened on the 1000 block of West Ruscomb Street on the highway at approximately 9:51 p.m. He was transported by private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center and currently is listed in critical condition.  The scene was held, no arrest was made and no weapon recovered. The investigation is active and ongoing with Northeast Detectives Division.   In a second shooting, a 37-year-old Black man was shot multiple times throughout the body, according to authorities.
