SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois Supreme Court hears oral arguments today in a case about individualsâ Second Amendment rights, but itâs just one of a series of cases challenging the stateâs gun laws working through the courts.
Among several cases to be heard today by the high court, is Alfred Evans Jr., v. The Cook County Stateâs Attorney (The Illinois State Police, Appellee).
Illinois State Rifle Association Executive Director Richard Pearson said that the case is about restoring peopleâs Second Amendment rights.
âWeâre just trying to make sure that the state gives them their rights back if they deserve them, thereâs no process for that at the moment that works,â Pearson told WMAY. âSo we want to guarantee those rights come back.â

(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 1,510 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday with 16 additional deaths.
