NRA-ILA: The New York Times Throws ATF Pity Party

Weapon of Choice: Ghost Guns on the Rise

As firearms have gone DIY, a Senate committee grappled Tuesday with what the United States is doing to restore order in the changing criminal landscape. (Image via Courthouse News) WASHINGTON (CN)  Early in the morning on March 2, 2020, a fight broke out at a North Philadelphia bar between 22-year-old Anthony Nieves and 25-year-old Zaire Williams. It was soon broken up by a few onlookers, and Williams, a former Temple University football player, reportedly won the fight. But before the men could go their separate ways, Nieves took out a black Glock-style handgun and shot Williams in the head.

Will Gun Control Advocates Push Biden to Ban Buying Online Ammunition?

Here is what we know about potential new gun legislation and regulations. Key point: Fears over gun restrictions always leads to a spike in ammunition and weapons. At this moment, there is a new piece of legislation being proposed in the House. Ammunition has been in short supply in recent months, and it could be well into the second half of the year or even later until supply is able to meet demand. Strong sales of firearms in the past year since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic, as well as a slowdown in production as many suppliers were forced to shutter during last year s stay-at-home orders, have led to empty shelves.

NRA-ILA | New York Times Throws ATF Pity Party

Monday, May 10, 2021 Support NRA-ILA It’s time once again for that lamest of all biennial traditions –  the publication of a lengthy New York Times or Washington Post opinion piece disguised as news that commiserates about the purportedly beleaguered state of the ever-so valiant Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). As if taking direction directly from the Democratic National Committee, the institutional gun control organizations, or the Biden administration, this year’s version was timed to coincide with the release of Joe Biden’s administrative gun controls and his nomination of Bloomberg-backed gun control lobbyist David Chipman to lead ATF.

Supreme Court Declines to Take Up Challenge Against Maryland Bump Stock Ban

Supreme Court Declines to Take Up Challenge Against Maryland Bump Stock Ban The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up a challenge against Maryland’s ban on bump stocks and similar devices that can make guns fire faster. The high court on Monday turned away a challenge (pdf) to the ban, which took effect in October 2018. A lower court had dismissed the challenge at an early stage and that decision had been upheld by an appeals court. As is typical, the Supreme Court did not issue a reason for declining to take up the case. Maryland’s ban preceded a nationwide ban on the sale and possession of bump stocks that was put in place by the Trump administration and took effect in 2019.
