Since losing her son in 2012 to an act of gun violence, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA), has weathered incalculable grief. Jordan Davis was just 17-years-old when a man complaining of “loud music” opened fire on a car of unarmed teens at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida.
Since that time, McBath has been a tireless activist for gun law reform, running for Congress to turn her pain into a push for solutions. Last week (March 11), she joined fellow members of the House of Representatives in helping to pass two key gun violence bills that have bipartisan support.

Grim December: Newly released data from Ohio’s fumbled reporting of coronavirus deaths shows just how grim the toll from COVID-19 actually had become in December, with nearly double the deaths in the month than previously reported. Ohio Department of Health data now shows at least 5,597 Ohioans died because of the coronavirus in December, up from the 2,859 reported last Wednesday, Rich Exner reports. December accounts for more than a third of all deaths reported to date.
BELLEVUE, WA â The Second Amendment Foundation today filed an amicus brief in a federal case that is trying to force the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to define certain firearms components as âfirearms.â
âForcing ATF to adopt the new approach to classification of certain gun components that the plaintiffs in this case are demanding would greatly expand ATF authority beyond the 1968 Gun Control Act,â said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. âIf their effort succeeds, it would violate rights protected by the Second Amendment by imposing restrictions on otherwise lawful Second Amendment activity excluded from the GCA.â
