Idaho adds 177 COVID-19 cases; outlook at long-term care facilities keeps improving Rachel Roberts, The Idaho Statesman
May 1 As Idaho inches closer to having 500,000 residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the state posted its second-lowest weekday case count of 2021.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported 177 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The only time this year that fewer cases were reported on a weekday was Feb. 15, when there were 115 new cases, according to data from IDHW.
Idaho s seven-day moving average sits at 210.4 new cases per day, a decrease of about 87% from a peak of 1,653.3 in mid-December.
One new coronavirus-related death was added in Elmore County (15 total). According to updated demographics from Health and Welfare, the latest death in Elmore County was a man in his 60s.

For example, Saint Alphonsus set up a two-day vaccination clinic during the last weekend in April using the former Gordman's store in the Village at Meridian; and it partnered with Valley Regional Transit to give free rides to get there. Now Saint Alphonsus is hitting the road to reach underserved areas with vaccines. The health system is the only vaccine provider in Idaho to receive a vaccination trailer from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Apr. 24 The downward trend in Idaho s COVID-19 caseload continued on Friday, with the state recording 190 new cases, the lowest daily addition since March 6, according to updated data from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
The state s seven-day moving average of new cases fell to 202. A month ago, that average was 302.
The bulk of new cases Friday were added in Ada (61 new, 51,078 total), Canyon (19 new, 26,240 total), Elmore (17 new, 1,952 total) and Kootenai (19 new, 17,603 total) counties. Still, in Ada County, the seven-day moving average fell to 70.6, down from 105.4 on April 12.

BOISE, Idaho Saint Alphonsus will soon be heading into more rural Idaho communities to provide people with the COVID-19 vaccine.
The health system announced it s receiving a FEMA vaccination trailer, or Mobile Vaccine Unit (MVU), to serve several rural communities in southwestern Idaho.
Saint Alphonsus is the only health system and vaccine provider in Idaho selected by FEMA to operate the MVU. This FEMA trailer will help us to expand our successful mobile vaccination program orchestrated by our Community Health & Well-Being team including our Faith Community Nurses and other clinical volunteers. Saint Alphonsus is committed to addressing health inequities around vaccine access to vulnerable populations and rural communities, said Odette Bolano, President and CEO of Saint Alphonsus Health System.
