My grandmother always went to Mass, and March 17 was her birthday. Which, of course, did not preclude a post-liturgical drop of the craytur after the final blessing. So, generally, I stay away from the green beer, which is an abomination anyway, and far away from all of what made Flann O Brien s St. Augustine decry the holiday, and the Saint Himself.
That reminds me. You have a Professor Binchy in your university outfit in Dublin and that poor man has been writing and preaching since he was a boy that the story about Saint Patrick is all wrong and that there were really two Saint Patricks.
