Seventh-Day women donate Headmistress of the GHS Mrs. Michelle Beache accepted the donation on behalf of the shelter. The Women’s Ministries Department of the Kingstown Seventh-Day Adventist Church, in collaboration with Dr. Sandra Trotman, and family and friends in the USA, have come to the assistance of St. Vincent and the Grenadines during the crisis wrought by an erupting La Soufriere volcano. Fifty packages each of personal care items were delivered to the emergency shelter at the Girls’ High School in Kingstown and to the Mt. Moriah Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  submit your comments

KINGSTOWN, 15 April 2021- The erupting La Soufriere volcano in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has placed the education of almost 33,000 children on hold, with no idea of when they will be able to resume classes. Primary and secondary school students in the Eastern Caribbean country had been preparing to return to school on 12 April 2021 but when the volcano, located in the northern end of the country, erupted on 9 April, education was placed on the backburner as the government moved to provide shelter for evacuated citizens.

CDEMA deploys DDSA team to SVG Social Share The Caribbean Disaster Management Agency-CDEMA- said in a release that it deployed a Detailed Damage Sectoral Analysis (DDSA) team on April 14, 2021 in support of the humanitarian efforts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the explosive eruptions of La Soufriere. The DDSA team will support the government by providing an assessment of key sectors and guidance towards estimating needs and associated costs, which will inform the relief and recovery efforts. The team will specifically examine the agriculture, health and water sectors, which have been prioritized by St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Within four days the DDSA team will provide a consolidated picture of the status of the three sectors and their evolving needs.
