On Tuesday April 20, at around 4 p.m. Rodriguez’s alleged exploits on to the country’s highest peak earned him an interview with police officers stationed at the Biabou Police Station as the summit is listed as off limits by local authorities. Rodriguez was detained for 48 hours, released, then asked to return to the Biabou Police Station on Monday April 26 as police were said to still be conducting investigations.

Seismologist Roderick Stewart, speaking on the state-owned NBC Radio on Tuesday, said that the seismic network recorded signals from multiple lahars (mud flows) for about six hours on Monday. “The lahars seem to have been spectacular again and a couple of my colleagues were up there when it was happening and they said at one point there were boulders that were five metres in diameter, that is 15 feet diameter boulders being rolled down by the lahars.

Grant Thornton donates to Soufriere volcanic eruption relief organizations LEFT TO Right: Eula Johnny, Floyd Patterson, Michelle Forbes and Julia Simmons Social Share GRANT THORNTON, an international firm of chartered accountants, has split EC$145,000 among three local organizations that are spearheading the Soufriere volcanic eruption relief effort. On Friday, Floyd Patterson, the resident partner of Grant Thornton Windward Islands St. Vincent, handed over to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) EC$100,000; to the Red Cross EC$30,000; and EC$15,000 to the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School (SMRC) emergency shelter. The SMRC school shelter’s donation is for the purpose of assisting the St. Benedict’s Day Nursery and Children Home occupants, who have relocated from Georgetown as a result of the eruption.
