NBC SVG The Ministry of Agriculture is taking a scientific approach to the process of rebuilding the Agricultural Sector The Ministry of Agriculture is taking a scientific approach to the process of rebuilding the Agricultural Sector, in the aftermath of the Explosive Eruptions of La Soufriere Volcano. This is according to Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Saboto Caesar, as he addressed several issues during the Eyeing La Soufriere Morning Edition yesterday on NBC Radio. Minister Caesar says Farmers can expect to see a new path taken for the development of the Agricultural Sector. Meanwhile, Director of Forestry Services, Fitzgerald Providence spoke about some of the devastation of the forest as a result of the volcanic ash fall.

The United Nations General Assembly is standing in solidarity with St Vincent and the Grenadines

NBC SVG The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution in “Solidarity with and support for the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as neighbouring countries affected by the impact of the eruptions of the La Soufriere Volcano”. This was disclosed by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on NBC Radio this morning. He said the resolution received overwhelming support from the Member States of the UN General Assembly. The Prime Minister also spoke about the assistance to be provided by the United Nations Environment Program.

During a virtual press conference hosted on Wednesday, April 21, Roderick Stewart, Volcano-Seismologist from the UWI-SRC/Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) emphasized, “… although it is easy to identify the start of eruptions, conclusively saying when eruptions are over, often proves more difficult.” The UWI-SRC and Vincentian authorities continue to monitor developments at the volcano, as they have been since the onset of heightened activity in December 2020, which entered an explosive phase on April 9, 2021.
