NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on I-40 Eastbound early Saturday morning.
Metro Police say an unidentified man was apparently walking across the interstate around 1:10 a.m. on I-40 Eastbound near Fesslers Lane when he was hit by an SUV.
The driver of the Chevy Traverse that hit him stopped and called police. No charges are anticipated against him.
The victim did not have any form of ID on him at the scene.
Fingerprint analysis is being conducted to find out who he is.
Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call the Department of Emergency Communications at 615-862-8600.
Several exceptions to the change that went into effect April 12 include:
A party insists on a police response;
A vehicle is disabled in the roadway;
The property damage only crash involves a hit-and-run;
There is a heated argument or fight between the parties.
Aaron said officers will always be dispatched to crashes involving injury or death or impaired drivers. If a citizen is insistent on an officer responding, one is to be sent, with the caveat that during peak times, the wait time may be long, Aaron said. It is preferred that drivers involved in property damage only fender-bender-type accidents amicably exchange information, take cell phone photos, and share the information with their respective insurance companies as applicable.
