Lansing Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Wednesday her flight to visit her father was not paid for by taxpayer dollars and was not a gift, but she declined to provide additional information about how the trip was funded.
The Democratic governor s comments came at a press conference about two months after she traveled out of state to visit her father, Richard Whitmer, who lives in Florida and her office says is battling a chronic illness. The Michigan Republican Party held its own Wednesday event, calling on Whitmer to answer more questions about the flight as controversy and mystery surrounding the outing continues for a fourth week.

New Jersey residents looking for a coronavirus vaccine can likely find an opportunity to do so without traveling too far and may not even need to make an appointment, as vaccine availability increases and the number of people seeking shots decreases.
Vaccine sites that have started accepting walk-in appointments include the 324 CVS locations and 68 Walmart and Sam’s Club locations across the state, both of which began taking walk-ins earlier this week. All six of New Jersey’s coronavirus vaccine mega-sites are also offering walk-in appointments.

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is expected to announce a new phase of Provider Relief Funding (PRF) that would likely cover COVID-related expenses and losses during the third and fourth quarters of 2020 (and potentially first quarter of 2021). Timing of the announcement is unclear, but it would be met with enthusiasm as the last official PRF disbursement was on December 15, 2020 (the PRF distribution timeline may be accessed here). Ahead of any new funding opportunity, providers should be aware of the following:
Review your calculated COVID-related losses and expenses to determine if they are expected to exceed the amount of PRFs already received, if any. As with previous disbursements, providers will need to be able to demonstrate the need and use of the funds during future reporting periods.
