Collins to back Becerra for HHS Secretary

Collins said she decided to vote to confirm Becerra after several conversations with him on a range of issues, including lowering prescription drug costs and expanding health care access to rural areas across the country. She is the first Republican to come out in support of his confirmation.  “During our one-on-one meeting, and in three subsequent conversations, Mr. Becerra and I discussed several shared goals that I hope we can accomplish in the Biden Administration. They include lowering the price of prescription drugs for patients and reducing our dependence on foreign countries for drug manufacturing,  she said in a statement. I also urged Mr. Becerra to support additional funding for health care providers during the pandemic, particularly in rural areas.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Michigan Healthy Worksite Award recognizes employers who are utilizing the Designing Healthy Environments at Work tools and actively investing in wellness programs. The awardees have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the culture of health within their workplace by focusing on the work environment along with organizational practices and policies.

North Carolina WIC Program Receives Telehealth Intervention Strategies Grant

    RALEIGH     The North Carolina Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is one of seven WIC State Agencies to receive a U.S. Department of Agriculture/Tufts Telehealth Intervention Strategies for WIC (THIS-WIC) grant. Selected through a competitive review process, the $1 million grant will use innovative telehealth solutions to deliver nutrition education and breastfeeding support to WIC participants to overcome barriers to access, particularly those encountered in rural settings. The THIS-WIC team at Tufts University will oversee the evaluation and provide technical support to funded WIC State Agencies.     The North Carolina WIC Project is Bringing WIC to Participants via Telehealth Solutions, and North Carolina WIC aims to decrease barriers of accessing WIC services and increase focus on tailored nutritional needs through four different components:
