How do they operate?
As reported by New Straits Times, the cartel obtains meat from countries such as Canada, Colombia, Ukraine, Uruguay, Spain, and Mexico. The produce comes from non-certified manufacturers.
This process of certification is overlooked by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).

An underground “meat cartel” which had been operating for the last 40 years was exposed for distributing fake halal beef as well as passing off horse and kangaroo meat as beef.
According to the
New Straits Times (NST), the cartel’s “business model” involves importing non-certified meat from countries like Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Spain and Mexico, before repackaging it with forged halal documentation and selling it to suppliers and stores across the country.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 ― The government will monitor closely the activities of a particular group that is spreading propaganda regarding the Covid-19 vaccine through social media so as to prevent it from influencing public perception, said Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) Ahmad Amzad Hashim.
