Christopher Krebs, the nation’s former top cybersecurity official who was fired by President Trump
The hearing will mark the first time that Krebs, the former director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), will testify on Capitol Hill since he left the agency.
Krebs was fired after both he and CISA took steps to push back against Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud and election interference in the 2020 presidential election,

Those efforts included CISA setting up a “rumor control” webpage to address disinformation and misinformation, and putting out a statement with state and local officials describing the 2020 election as the “most secure in American history.”

Washington Post that a Russian hacking group called APT29 or CozyBear, which is an arm of the Russian intelligence agency the SVR, was behind the campaign.
The Russian embassy issued a statement on Wednesday saying that the allegations were baseless. Russian officials said that Russia does not conduct offensive operations in cyber campaigns and said that attacks in the information space contradict the country s foreign policy and national interests.

On Tuesday, the National Security Council announced the administration would be invoking Presidential Policy Directive-41, or PPD-41, which “facilitates continuous and comprehensive coordination for whole-of-government efforts to identify, mitigate, remediate and respond to this incident,” according to a statement from NSC spokesperson John Ullyot.
