DEMING, N.M. State police are investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Deming Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
New Mexico State Police said the suspect is dead and no officers were injured. The public is asked to avoid the area near 1st Street and 8th Street while authorities investigate.

On Monday, January 25, 2021, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a tip in reference to Bradley S. Courmier, 29, of Vinton, LA, possibly being in possession of child pornography.
Eight people accused of being involved in a drug organization in Gainesville have now been sentenced.
Members of the drug ring were selling methamphetamine and were uncovered after a lengthy investigation. Operation Night Train, a long-term Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, discovered the conspiracy and arrested the individuals, who also face charges for drug possession and money laundering.
One of the suspects, Lesli Arroyo Alvarado, 24, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, is still on the run.
According to WDEF in Chattanooga, where one of the members of the organization was arrested, the other suspects were all caught over the span of several months in 2019. They say that, according to the FBI, the meth ring was trafficking drugs in Atlanta, the North Georgia mountains, North Carolina and Florida.
Thanks to a tip received by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffâs Office, a Vinton man was taken into custody for possession of child pornography.
On Monday, January 25, CPSO detectives acted on a tip in reference to Bradley S. Courmier, 29, of Ogese Courmier Road in Vinton, possibly being in possession of child pornography.Â
The following day detectives subsequently executed a search warrant at Courmierâs residence.Â
On Wednesday, January 27, detectives made contact with Courmier, who confirmed the allegations. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with seven counts of pornography involving juveniles. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $70,000.

VINTON, La. (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish Sheriffâs Office detectives received a tip on Jan. 25, about a Vinton man possibly being in possession of child pornography.
According to CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent, on Jan. 26, detectives subsequently executed a search warrant at the residence of Bradley S. Courmier, 29.
According to Vincent, detectives made contact with Courmier on Jan. 27, who confirmed the allegations. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 7 counts of pornography involving juveniles. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $70,000.
