Neighbors to urge Aboite gas station proposal be denied

Residents who have concerns about a proposed gas station and convenience store at 6819 Bass Road in Aboite Township plan to speak against the project during a public hearing Thursday.
The development requires a rezoning from single-family residential to general commercial and approval of its primary development plan.
A waiver of development standards is also being sought from the Allen County Board of Zoning Appeals to allow a canopy that is too close to a property line.
The project on the site of the former Galbraith s Nursery is proposed by Karnail Singh of Fort Wayne. It includes gas pumps and a 3,320-square-foot store on 1.4 acres.

Commission to hear plans for car wash, oil change business
The site of the former Ruby Tuesday restaurant west of Memorial Coliseum won t be redeveloped as another eatery if a proposal being heard by the Fort Wayne Plan Commission on Monday gains approval.
Instead, the site will house a car wash and oil change business, according to an application filed in the Department of Planning Services.
Applicant Rosa Morquecho of Fort Worth, Texas, says the facility at Parnell Avenue and East Coliseum Boulevard will have two buildings. The application states the existing building will be razed.
The name of the new business is listed as Take 5 Express Car Wash and Take 5 Oil Change.

An intermediate patient room is located on the fourth floor of Lutheran Downtown Hospital. The intermediate room is a step down from intensive care rooms for patients needing an extra level of care.
The Downtown Bistro, located inside Lutheran Downtown Hospital, will be open to the public and will provide both indoor and outdoor seating.
