Massachusetts Increases COVID-19 Restrictions on Businesses and Reverts to Phase III, Step 1 of Reopening Plan | Seyfarth Shaw LLP

Seyfarth Synopsis: In response to increasing COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts, Governor Charlie Baker issued COVID-19 Orders Nos. 57 and 58, which will return the Commonwealth to Step 1 of Phase 3 of its reopening plan.  The Orders and the accompanying Department of Public Health guidelines will tighten restrictions on Massachusetts businesses. The Orders will also require closure of certain businesses designated as Phase 3 Step 2 industries, including indoor performance venues and certain high-contact indoor recreational businesses.  In addition, capacity limits will be reduced to 40% for most industries, and outdoor gatherings will be limited to 50 persons.  The Orders take effect on Sunday, December 13, 2020. On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Governor Baker issued COVID-19 Orders Nos. 57 and 58 in response to increasing COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.  Both Orders take effect on Sunday, December 13, 2020.  Though the orders impose new restrictions on certain industries

TEMPLETON - The Thirsty Turtle Pub has reopened after the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission reversed an earlier decision to suspend the bar s license, a decision that came, in part, after a patron pulled on the mask of a state investigator and told her, You don t need these in here. The pub, in the Baldwinville section of town, was penalized after investigators visited just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 9, a Friday, and found several patrons and the bartenders unmasked. Patrons were walking around the pub with drinks and were not seated or masked in accordance with COVID-19 regulations, they wrote.
