The repeat offenders are Douglas Badger and Merle Wakefield.
On Monday a hearing is scheduled for wakefield’s proposed location.

The Department of State Hospitals recently recommended both men be housed in a supervised home on Horizon Hills Drive in the Mt. Helix neighborhood.

Wakefield, 64, was convicted of sexual assaults dating back to the 1980s, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved methods intended to increase public notification about registered sex offenders and placement of sexually violent predators.
One way, according to Supervisor Joel Anderson s office, would be advance notification of the district attorney, supervisors and other community leaders before sex offenders are placed in or move into a neighborhood.
Based on a recommendation by Supervisor Jim Desmond, the board also approved better notification for Native American tribes, if sexual predators are moved to their communities.

The court cases are titled People v. Douglas Badger and People v. Merle Wakefield, but the people who could be the future neighbors of these two sexually violent predators have been given short shrift in the proceedings.
My neighbors and I first learned about plans to place Badger in our community through the news media on March 29. Badger, 78, has a record of sexual assaults dating to the 1970s, with a history of assaulting young male hitchhikers at gunpoint. He spent more than 20 years in maximum-security state hospitals. He has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and sexual sadism disorder and his designation as a sexually violent predator means it is likely for him to re-offend.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Concerns were raised on Wednesday over the complicated search for answers as to how two sexually violent predators (SVPs) could soon be living inside a suburban Mt. Helix home in unincorporated El Cajon. The proposed house is about three or four homes down from us and across the street, said neighbor Sarah Hollis. She contacted ABC 10News after learning that SVPs Douglas Badger and Merle Wakefield might move in. We just want to know how this house was chosen, said added.
