The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will give banks Rs 50,000 crore to enable them to lend further for healthcare needs in the Covid-19 crisis, said governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday. “India has mounted a valiant defence against Covid-19. The RBI will continue to monitor the emerging situation and deploy all instruments at its command, said Das at an unscheduled briefing where he listed measures the central bank will take to support the economy during a second wave of infections. “On-tap liquidity of Rs 50,000 crore at repo rate is being opened till March 31, 2022. Under the scheme banks can support entities including vaccine manufacturers, medical facilities, hospitals and also patients,” said Das.

New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): The Centre on Friday decided to facilitate faster imports of key medical devices by relaxing the conditions for clearances under Legal Metrology (Packaging Rules 2011).
Considering the present pandemic situation of COVID-19 and for meeting the demand of medical devices, the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Government of India has permitted the importers of medical devices to import medical devices for three months from April 28 onwards, the government said in a statement.
The importers are subject to the condition that the importers shall make all declarations required under these rules immediately after import/custom clearance and before sale by way of stamping or putting sticker or online printing, as the case may be.

New Delhi, April 30 : India on Friday allowed the import of oxygen concentrators under the gift item category, thereby exempting the crucial medical device from customs duty.
Concentrators are used to provide oxygen to ease difficulty in breathing, as they extract concentrated quantities of oxygen from ambient air.
The exponential rise in Covid-19 infections has lifted the demand for this medical equipment.

The FBI and the Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs are cautioning northeast Ohio businesses to be on the lookout for Bitcoin ATM scams, sending alert signs to stores that have Bitcoin ATMs. They are requesting the businesses display the signs in a noticeable place or near the ATM, according to a Spectrum News report.
The FBI and Department of Consumer Affairs said scammers are posing as utilities, police or government agencies to scare people into sending Bitcoins. Cleveland Police said it has one report of Bitcoin scams, but it s unclear if scams of these nature were going unreported, according to the news report.
