Published March 10, 2021 11:10am The Toy Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (TMHK) has expressed interest to relocate their toy production operations as well as expand in the Philippines, citing recent fiscal legislations that boost their confidence in investing in the country, the Department of Trade and Industry’s Board of Investments (DTI-BOI) said Wednesday. In a statement, the DTI-BOI said officers and members of TMHK disclosed their intent during an online information session with the agency last month, particularly on the various investment opportunities in the country. The toy manufacturers’ group, led by its president Samson Ko, “acknowledged the rising production costs that their members have been experiencing and, thus, are seriously considering the Philippines for possible relocation and expansion of their operations,” according to the DTI-BOI.

+ March 10, 2021 IN THE bid to provide opportunities for “balikbayans” in Kabankalan City, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the Public Employment Services Office (Peso) has conducted an employment, business and livelihood forum for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) recently.
Dubbed Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan,” the forum held at the Kabankalan City Function Hall was attended by 44 OFWs in the city.
Councilor Miguel Zayco, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Trade and Industry, urged participating OFWs to actively participate and get involved in the different recovery programs of the government.

Published January 6, 2021 5:48pm Deputy Speaker Bienvenido Abante Jr. on Wednesday called on the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to put a stop to the sale of equipment and materials that could be used to produce child pornogaphy through online shopping platforms. Abante made the call after the total number of suspicious transaction reports (STRs) related to child pornography more than doubled in 2020 as compared to the previous year. In a statement, Abante expressed alarm on the disturbing rise in child pornography in the country, as shown in reports from the Department of Justice and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
